First Tee of the Foothills offers programs and instruction which focus on developing life skills using the game of golf as its vehicle.

Paralleling the structure of the golf instruction program, First Tee life skills curriculum is divided into four levels, starting with Par (for beginners) and progressing through Birdie, Eagle and Ace.

Modular Units

Each level consists of six life skills modules and every module contains a “core” lesson that all participants must be exposed to. The core lessons are suitable for delivery to any age group. In addition, the each module includes optional activities. Some give participants additional practice in the core life skills; some are designed for participants 12 and older; others deal with the application of life skills to non-golf situations at home or school.

Classes conducted at River Bend YMCA Golf Course and Royster Memorial Golf Course. Contact Phil Wallace for classes at River Bend and Katie Turner for classes at Royster Memorial.

Target: 5-6 yr. old, Beginner classes, Monday 4:00 PM-5:00 PM, March 9-April 14
PLAYer: 7 & older, Beginning classes, Monday 5:15 PM – 6:30 PM, March 9-April 14
Par I-III: 9 & older, Player Certified Only, Tuesday 4:00 PM – 5:15 PM, March 9-April 14
Birdie: 11 & older, Tuesday 5:15 PM- 6:30 PM, March 9-April 14

Fee: $60 for 6 lessons
